On Thursday, June 14, 2018 the Westchester County Medical Society and the Westchester Academy of Medicine held their Annual Meeting at the Westchester Country Club in Rye New York.\u00a0 About 140 members and guests enjoyed an evening of fellowship with colleagues and family, great food, networking, and the opportunity to interact with some of the WCMS Preferred Partners and sponsors.\u00a0 Outgoing WCMS President Marshal Peris, MD was thanked for a wonderful year of excellent leadership. Dr. Peris thanked his colleagues and the administrative staff of the Society and Academy for a great year.\u00a0 Newly installed President Omar Syed, MD a neurosurgeon\u00a0 practicing with Caremount Medical gave his inaugural remarks and spoke about his personal history, and his plans for the upcoming year, which include focusing on the the importance of involving our young physician members, and increasing overall membership by offering services and benefits tailored to employed physicians as well as solo and small practice physicians.\u00a0 The evening was a great success!<\/p>\n

The First Annual “Friend of the Society” Award was presented to Edward C. Halperin, MD, MA, Chancellor & CEO NYMC for his oingoing efforts to engage the medical student community with the physician community in Westchester County.\u00a0 He is also a strong supporter of the Society and a member himself.\u00a0 Dr. Halperin was on-hand to accept his award and spoke about the history of New York Medical College and the evolution of the relationship between NYMC and the Westchester Coutny Medical Society.<\/p>\n
